Chaga mushroom, also known as Inonotus obliquus, is a wood-decaying fungus that primarily grows on birch trees in cold regions such as Siberia, Russia, Canada, and Scandinavia. It is easily recognizable by its dark brown to almost black outer crust, which resembles burnt charcoal, while its inner part has a warm orange-brown shade. Despite its harsh exterior appearance, the inside of this mushroom hides a true treasure of active compounds, making it an increasingly important part of modern natural medicine. It is fascinating that under such extreme conditions it is able to produce so many beneficial substances that can also support the human body.
